Each weekend from June through August between 2-4pm the traditional Cockle Row Cottages in Groomsport comes alive with free fun for all the family. Relax and listen to live music, get close to nature with animal road shows or try your hand at craft making. This is just a taste of what’s on offer this summer.

This Saturday 2nd, we welcome fantastic uplifting music from 3rd Carrickfergus Brass Band, while on Sunday see the fine art of glass painting, performed by experts.

Ward Park will play host to this year’s free summer concerts on the Bank Holiday weekend of the 23rd and 24th August.

Curtis Stigers will perform on Saturday evening, 7-10pm. Stigers has a wide variety of impressive accomplishments from his early pop chart success with several top ten singles and hit albums. He has toured the world in concert with renowned artists such as Elton John and Eric Clapton and has been called “one of the best male jazz signers of his generation”.

Ben Glover, a local artist from Glenarm who established his touring band ‘The Earls’ in 2004, will support Curtis. In 2007 the band recorded their debut album with J.D. Foster, who has worked with greats such as Richmond Fountain and Emmylou Harris.

On Sunday afternoon, 3-5pm, the Frank and Ella Show will have you wrapped in jazz and swing from way back when. Todd Gordon and Elaine Delmar, who are two of the UK’s leading jazz vocalists, will perform a sophisticated and fun tribute to Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. The show will create a perfect atmosphere in which you can wile away the afternoon with a picnic.

To complete the holiday weekend, on Monday there will be live street theatre for all the family at McKee Clock, Bangor Seafront, between 12-6pm.
