Drying a very wet book!!!

cheap-n-cheerful

Stupidly left my book outside yesterday after enjoying the sunshine, then last night all that rain came down
What's the best way to dry it out without pages clumping together or going all wrinkly??? Was quite enjoying it and dont want to buy another copy due to own stupidity
Thanks.

depends on how many pages.
I have put foil between wet pages to stop them sticking together as they dry and a stone statue on top.
But I only had a few wet pages.....fell into bath and caught most of it, it was from library and didn't want to pay for a replacement.0 -
oh no cheap-n. you must be gutted.
i have no advise sorry. i've done this a few times and they always end up falling apart or sticking together. i just wondered what book it was. i read loads so i may have a replacement you could have.0 -
Put it in direct sunlight (sorry I know it's a bit late now!) or in the airing cupboard, stood up and open with as many pages fanned out as possible. Go back to it every hour or so and flick through the pages gently to get some air through them.
Another thing to try is to hang it over an airer (or better a string washing line) next to a breezy window or a fan, or turn a hairdryer on it (this last one not very good if it's soaked as it will take forever.) You could also stand it up on a pile of other books and turn a fan on it.
The pages will still be wrinkly but hopefully not so badly that you can't read the book. HTH.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
I'd put a sheet of tissue (loo roll is cheapest!) between every page and leave it in the airing cupboardResolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Thanks for the advice peeps!
Think I will get the kids with the loo roll tomorrow putting it between pages, it's still soaked so another day wont matter! If that fails will try the hairdryer!
Feel a trip to the library coming on at the weekend if all else fails.....I will be rich :rotfl:0
