Reception throughout N. Ireland, best provider is...?

I'm trying to assess how good mobile internet with Vodafone would be in the likes of Omagh / Derry / Fermanagh? Anyone got any information to share?

I am assuming that everyone has good reception in Belfast.

Vodafone seems to be the best deal, going through Quidco, however 3 is cheaper, but I have heard that it is dodgy even in Belfast, so I imagine west of the country, it would even more dismal.

I used to be with Vodafone and I have to say the reception was good in most places, even on trips to Belleek / Ballyshannon and across the border. I'm now with O2 and I have to say I've had quite a few times where I've not been able to get a signal at all.

I've heard of a few people having trouble with 3.

Of the 2 that I have experience of, in coverage terms, I'd recommend Vodafone.

3 are ok reception wise as they piggyback o2 which have the best coverage in Northern Ireland. For the border counties though I'm not sure but I would say o2 would be the major player there also.

twinkle162 - you've mentioned quite a large area. Check the coverage on the UK site first at http://www.three.co.uk/personal/coverage_/coverageChecker.do

Then you could check the southern site since with three you can roam on their southern network for free. Have a look at the border areas.

I'm with 3 because it's cheap, it’s MOSTLY ok where i need it (belfast) but coverage can be questionable sometimes. the most irritating is the loss of reception in my kitchen..

As previous poster mentioned, they use 02 network which is good until O2 get busy – then the extra carriers will get dropped off the network and O2 users get priority.

Also, I travel to the south a fair bit and generally my phone ends up switching networks a lot despite 3 operating there.

And then of course, you’ve got the north Antrim situation – where my phone either has no network or roams onto a southern one…

    Soo, why am I with 3 again??
    Oh yeah, the price:rotfl:

Checked with my other half, a self confessed expert on all things gadget / phone related!

Apparently Vodafone were the first network to cover the majority of Ireland and still have the best network coverage.

If he's wrong let me know so I can tell him!!!:rotfl:
