If at first you don;t succeed

I rang Barclay's today to apply for their tracker mortgage (following some helpful advice from people on here), and ,when I explained that I was buying a house in part exchange for mine, which I planned on putting straight on the market once I'd moved in, was told that this would be a bridging loan, and they weren't interested (after the advisor I spoke to had spoken to her supervisor).

I rang back about 5 minutes later, to check if it made any difference that I wasn;t necessarily going to pay back the mortgage once I sold my new house, as I would be buying somewhere else and could be interested in porting it, and the second person I spoke to said 'Oh no, that all sounds fine to me, off you go!;

Just goes to show that if the first person you speak to isn't helpful, can't hurt to ring back and try again!

    Because Barclays were cheaper?

    Also, I already banked with them so I hoped that might speed things up a bit.

    0.89 above base rate, only fee is £275 exit fee (I guess that might make it more expensive than HSBC actually, I don't know if they have an exit fee).

    Speed isn't something that Woolwich/ Barclays are all that good at I'm afraid but if you keep pestering them it helps a wee bit.
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!
