Tesco Points -

tESCO POINTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE ADDED ON LATER ON IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR CLUBCARD HANDY. tHIS IS PROBABLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY WANT TO MONITOR ALL TRANSACTIONS AND COUPONS USED BY US INDIVIDUALS. iT WILL BE HAPPENING SHORTLY I HAVE BEEN INFORMED.

don't see why this would happen as they can still monitor things when you take your receipt to the till to get the points added if you have forgotten your card - therefore they don't lose out on any of the info they would gain normally..Where did you get this info??

Humm, I work for a large supermarket *cough*, and theres absolutely no internal mention of not being able to redeem your Tesco points later on (within 4 weeks of the receipt date, and a maximum of 4 receipts per trip to the customer service desk)

What they might have been getting confused about is that the next Clubcard mailing will be different - and Clubcard vouchers now have long 16 digit barcodes on the vouchers which are unique to you.

This means once a voucher has been used - like scanned instore, or accepted by Clubcard deals, it will not allow it to be used again. Likewise if people did the old scam of ringing Clubcard and saying their vouchers had gone missing in the post, and got another set sent out - this won't work anymore as Dundee (Clubcard) can cancel the old vouchers now.

It will also stop cashier mistakes of accidentally scanning a voucher twice, as the till will tell them now that the voucher has laready been redeeemed, and it also stops people (even though there already was sophisticated measures in place) copying vouchers and reusing them :)

It also means that you won't be able to buy vouchers from eBay and use them instore etc - all very clever :)

Hope that clears it up ;)

Yes, I work for Mr T, but anything I say is not given as an official response or representation from Mr T, and is usually best taken with a pinch of salt, lightly toasted and served with a chardonnay or rose wine. Mmmmmmm.

They cannot really monitor what your transacton have been if they don't scan the receipt just add the points manually.

Weird, because I'm a front end team leader, and I receive all the briefings like everyone else about Clubcard and what not.

The only changes we've seen is for the vouchers. It could be a case of the confused employee though, they often like to spread rumors about things even they arnt fully aware of...unless she was trying to scare you off claiming points all the time if your a regular ;)

  • Joel, do these new style vouchers start from Novembers mailing or februarys ?
Thanks. Will the clubcard deals vouchers be the same ?
    Up the Rams !!
  • Have been doing this at my store for ages now. I tried to argue, but they blamed the fact that people where picking up other peoples reciepts outside and claiming points for someone elses shopping!

Annoyed now that it was not a rule!

I guess thats a good reason to stop it as that would cause corupt meaningless data.
    .
  • with tesco's profit margines i should not think they are bothered about a few points,

as an internet shopper i don't always ring if they make a mistake unless it's over £1. it's not worth the phone call,

i should think they make more than enough to cover the points they give out.

how many more people never ring to claim the odd 20p penny's make pounds

Joel, You should find this CS lady where mrs lds went and give her a slap on the wrist.
You always get the odd Cs in any supermarket 'trying' to slack it!
