if anyone has freeview tv, checkout price-drop.tv (freeview channel 24). they sell all the usual tv shopping stuff, but every now + then, they have a thing called a megadrop where the price of whatever item drops to £1. i've had many bargains- a £400 gold curb chain, a £200 silver watch, a diamond+sapphire bangle, crystal perfume bottles..........loads of stuff. you have to watch it for ages with the phone in your hand, but if you're at home anyway...give it a go. all my stuff has gone on ebay and i've made a tidy wedge. ;D

The "Guide" prices are highly inflated and alot of the times laughable
  • yep, guide prices are truly silly- i only buy megadrops for a quid. the £400 curb chain i got was valued by a jeweller after i got it- price drop put the guide at £750!!!

All shopping channels should be banned - never heard any good reports (apart from yours) ;)

i visit the qvc outlet store, whats the point in paying the tv price when you can get it for next to nothing there.

I've watched price drop tv before, but never seen anything go for a £1 :-/

Indeed, what are you phone bills like?

I thought bid-up and price-drop make their money by selling tat and having a few thousand punters on a premium rate number at any one time?

*If* you want to bid then you can register online and bid there for no more than the cost of your internet connection.

Dunno what percentage of bidders do than though.

On the same sort of subject Auction World were the subject of a watchdog documentary last night. Essentially lots of people had paid for goods, with inflated prices, that never turned up. On occasion they just sent out standard letters saying goods had been quarantined ( ??? why would anyone quarantine a PC). Anyway, these people have been waiting for months and still haven't got refunds.

So if you use TV auctions please be careful.
