You can ask them why what reasons and point out you have had to give notice to your (present employer) last.. Also the short notice they gave you..
They should have done all the checks before offering you a contract you have a case for non-compliance of the issue of a contract to you.
Telephone them be nice explain your position see what they have to say then contact a solicitor it there is a slim chance they will have to pay some form of compensation if you can prove they was negligent and irresponsible in their actions and also giving you false promises.
but it depends on what the reasons was also false information/ wrong information/ criminals records checks/ think about it if you are sure you did nothing wrong and all information’s was correct go for it.. ….Good luck

i defintely didnt do anything wrong as they had not performed any checks by the monday. My credit is good and i have no criminal convictions. References had not been asked for (i checked with my old bosses) so it seems they just changeed their mind or something went wrong.

I'm grateful for the month off especially as i was very ill on the 3rd week and would have been unable to work anyway. (this would have looked awful if i'd had to call in sick)

I received my first months paycheck from them last week so they are keeping their promise. I actually start a new temp job on wednesday too so i'll be getting double wages, although i may get taxed more.

    What a decent company.
I'd write a letter to HR thanking them for their excellent handling of what could have been a difficult situation ....and stating that you'd still be interested in any future positions that may become available !

    Thank Duchy,

I did this a while ago and and also enclosed a copy of my updated CV stating that I am temping again now.
The money i am earning now isnt enough to cover my bills though so i'm praying the next promised pay cheque arrives on the 19th.

Just hope i can find a better paid job very soon.
What a year! Redundant 2 days before my mortgage completed in April, Left a temping job for perm last month that never materialised and now back to temping for a lot less money than i was earning at my last temp place.

No wonder my hair is falling out!! lol
