Survived OR interview, but have a question!

The OR interview wasn't too bad, only half an hour long, and I got to keep my car - which I was so worried I wouldn't! My only question is, the OR didn't ask for any of my new (basic) bank account details, and said that when my contract ends at my letting agents, I have to give back the deposit to them. He also mentioned that any "large" sums of money (not quite sure how much is large) must be paid directly to them. If I didn't give my bank account details, how can they monitor what is going in and out? I only ask becuase I have just had a £60 rebate from BT, and don't know if I need to give it to them, or be cheeky and hang onto it. Also, when do payments of the IPA start? I haven't had anything through yet, but am due to be paid on Thursday and am expecting a nil tax code and to be paying this plus the £160 of my IPA as soon as possible - but haven't recieved any details of how to pay them!

Thanks so much everyone x

The OR wasn't interested in my Coop account so didn't take any of the details, they don;t "monitor" your account but can in theory I presume ask for statements at anytime. (though I haven't been asked for anything)

My IPA started a month or so after my interview... you'll be contacted by clark wilmott who act on behalf of the OR and will arrange your payments through them. First you should get confirmation from the OR by post stating what your IPA is.

Not sure about the nil tax code thingy as never got one but the IPA does not get back dated and only runs from the month it is set up in (i had a free month)

    Hello Miss Ratty,
We were told by our OR that it can take up to 8 weeks before an IPA is set up. Strictly speaking, you ought to ask him/her whether they want the BT rebate, but that's your call. Must say, I think asking for your deposit when you move is a bit harsh! Hope you're surviving the fallout from your flat-mate's tantrum.

The OR has no interest in any account opened after BR, they rely on your honesty to tell them if you've received extra money.

Our OR said anything arounf £60-80 we could keep and no need to tell them, if it's hundreds then we have to.

    First off well done ratty.
The NT can take a while to go through. I went bc in the nove and by march it had still not been applied so don't worry on that score. IPA's can take a couple of months to start, like waspy says. Mine did not start till feb and it was not back dated so make the most of the extra cash now.
As far as new bank accounts are concerned they have no interest,,unless the OR notices large amounts dissapearing from you cc or normal b/a just before bc:rolleyes: then he might want to check your account. Stop worryng it is over now ratty relax and enjoy your debt free future.Dx

OK, keep an eye on this.
I went BR in OCT 07 (now discharged :j ) my NT code was applied to my wages in NOV. So I assumed during Nov that I would get informed about the amount to put aside and where to send the payment to. Well, Nov past, Dec past, Jan past, Feb past, March past.....then panic set in....I was sitting of 2k of spare cash.

I contacted my OR an explained the situation, they looked into my file and admitted that they had forgotten about me. The OR sent back dated paperwork to me, which I signed and sent off a cheque.

What I was worried about was having to pay NT for a whole new tax year  thats why I left my BR till later in the year, only paid 3/4 months worth.

    Hope this info helps.

I have to say - I think this is a bit harsh :( What if you're having to move from one rented to another? Where are you supposed to get the new deposit money from?

  • Congratulations Miss Ratty, it all sounds as if itwent well, and nice and short.

I haven't yet heard about the nil tax situation, am hoping I don't have an IPA as my calculations showed only £38 a month left. I haven't heard though.

Could anyone advise how this nil tax situation works? I have little bits of earnings and pensions coming from 6 sources plus state pension. Does a refund come through and I have to put to one side for the OR?
