Getting statements from creditors while on a CCCS plan

We're paying our creditors on a DMP through the CCCS. I'd like to know what the current balances are on each account, as since we've started payments (4 months deep) I have only received a statement from one of our 6 or so creditors (GE Capital - a Topshop storecard. They were the only ones to actually *officially* acknowledge acceptance of the payments too). With all the problems I've been having with Egg lately, I thought it might be an idea to write to them all to request a statement. Also I could thank them for accepting our offer and reaffirm our commitment to honouring our debts in a mutually acceptable manner. :D

Has anyone else here on a CCCS plan done something similar? I don't actually know whether any of them have frozen interest or not, if not what rate they are applying etc. It doesn't seem quite right that we could be accruing interest charges and not know what we owe in total. Also I'd like to be able to work out an accurate debt-free date (depressingly distant as it will undoubtedly be!)

Anyone have any thought on this?

Thanks in advance

It depends what type of debt you have and with who as to whether they will send you a statment. When I was collecting all my information with a view to setting up a plan, most of the credit card companies wouldn't send a statement as they said your normal CC statement is the current balance. Egg took about 2 months to send me a statement on the loan I had with them, then complained two days later that I hadn't contacted them with a view to setting up payments.

    :D

I haven't been receiving my normal statements from any of them except for the GE Capital storecard one. At first I was just relieved that all the calls and letters had stopped, but now I'd like to know what our position is with them all. I'd have thought that they'd be obliged to provide the information under the consumer credit act or something - or do they take the view that as we have effectively breached our contract with them they are entitled to apply whatever charges and interest they wish and not let us know?

You almost feel scared to write to them about anything in case it stirs something up again.
  • Hiya,

When I was with CCCS on DMP I never got any statements from creditors. Every now and again CCCS will instruct you to write to creditors to request balances so that they can check them against the ones they have. :D
