Signing on for JSA by Post

I am having to sign on by post as I live a few miles from my local Job Centre. I sent my first form off last Monday and received a form saying my claim was ok on Friday. I haven't however received a new form to sign on again on Monday week. Does anyone know if this will come during the forthcoming week or will I need to contact them about this?

Thanks.

I think signing on is a fortnightly event in general. So, if you haven't found employment to start next week, then I assume you will have the form a fortnight after the first one. However do check: have they said that every one will be done by post?

How would you get to interviews for work?

Postal signing on was done at their suggestion, and yes, I was told every one will be postal. I will call them tomorrow to make sure I will have the form for next week in time.

Re getting to interviews, I have a car:)

You're lucky. They closed the jobcentre in Driffield and won't allow postal signing so everyone who signs on has to travel to Beverley once a fortnight which is a 30 mile round trip all at their own expense.

That is very unfair. it seems that in my office, everyone from outwith the city can do a postal sign on. I have a 32 mile round trip so I am glad I don't have to go in. Mind you I seem to be making the journey every day for interviews etc so it wouldn't have made much difference!

It'd be interesting to know what the regs are in regard to signing on. If you get £49 a week, £7 to go sign on is a large lump to fork out.
