delivered the thompson local directories?

Options
hi quick question, has anyone delivered the thompson local directories?

i see that they are due to be sent out in my area over the next few weeks, so any ideas about how many books per round (roughly), and how much pay per book?

also how long does a round take- i mean a 150 houses doesnt sound very much, but i guess walking down each garden path etc might take a while!

any experiences/ answers please as the woman on the phone was a bit vague to say the least!

thanks. :D

:rotfl: i take it you mean your not going to do it? I don't blame you. With the current costs of fuel and the wear and tear of your vehicle, its just not really worth it.

I took a long walk today and counted house  i walked an awful long way yet only got to 85 houses. 150 is a lot, unless they're terraced streets with no gardens.

My better half, has just delivered to over 450 homes. On Friday she done 80ish & it took an hour,on sat i helped & we done 300 it took 1.5 hours, and today she done the other 75ish and it took an hour. She got paid £36 for this. She had to pick up the directories on friday morning which was a 2 minute drive from our house and all the deliveries she had to do were streets very closeby including our own.So if you can get a round close to your own home its well worth doing.

I've just done this for the first time and if you're prepared to graft then you can make a decent amount. My first round was 780 books, I did this in approx. 6 hours which meant I earned over £10 per hour. This encouraged me to take on another two rounds which I completed in similar time. I pushed myself, it's a job you can do at a slower pace, it's up to you. I had a lot of flats to do which was hard work climbing but the bonus is you can get a lot of books out in a short time.

Here's why: 728 directories for £41.29 + £5, no mileage allowance, though they expect you to collect the books and pay you within 21 days: £41.29 / 728 is under 6p per book. Jump up and down for the £5 bonus, but by my calculations that leaves me out of pocket and I would be very thin, if I tried to tripple my earnings to 18p for delivering 3 x 728 directories. Firstly, no company should be able to claim they are paying minimum wage unless they deposit that wage in your bank. Secondly, where is the earnings, after petrol, wear and tear on car and did I mention shoes? Can't believe they get away with this. No mileage, no delivery, no thanks. It's minimum wage alright, just not the one parliament had in mind. Didn't get caught up in this, but after doing the maths it was funny.:rotfl:
