Buying bacon from sainsburys

Im not sure who shops at sainsburys on these boards but if you buy bacon double check that you buy the cheaper pac, it was pointed out to me that we sell 2 packs of smoked bacon (amongst others); 1 priced at £1 and the other at £2.38, the differece is that the pack at £2.38 has 8 slices and the pack at £1 has 6 slices, and then theres unsmoked bacon which is the same again, its the sainsburys own brand bacon (red label for smoked and blue for unsmoked),

thought id pass on the info

It's not the amount of slices that really matter more about the weight of each pack. Up until the recent mass of food prices it was quite normal to pay pay 50p per 100g of prepacked bacon (smoked or unsmoked depending on where you shop). Typically a 200g pack of bacon in the main stores was 99p. Lots of these BOGOF offers aren't anything like they seem as Morrisons often put 2 x 200g packs together and charge say £1.99 BOGOF but the real price of the bacon was only 99p for 200g. Supermarkets are shisters and professional at doing this. HTH

I see what your saying but i was highlighting the point that you could save money by picking the pack at £1 unless of course you wanted 8 slices,

Yep i understand.... No argument from me there, just wanted to point out that BOGOF is far from being BOGOF and the actual true cost of buying a prepacked 200g (normally sold this way) should be close to 99p ;)

A good hunt around amongst the `basic` all shapes and sizes bacon will usually turn up a pack that contains pretty good even shaped rashers and no scraggy bits at all!
