Something productive to do on duty....

Hi all!
I'm in a new job (well, a temp job) and I'm doing a series of 12 hr shifts, but the thing is, there's not actually any work to do here - I answer the phone when it rings - it last rang 6 and a half hours ago!

It's great, I'm getting to do lots of MSEing, and reading the paper, doing the puzzles, reading my book, but I feel like i could/should be doing something more productive. Preferebly, I'd like to be doing some kind of work (like stuffing envelopes or something) maybe something that could earn me some extra money!!!

does anyone have any ideas or suggestions please???

cheers!!

AG

PS - I do have internet access at work, but it's got surfguard on it, so i can't get at some sites like ebay (that was my 1st plan!))

If it's a not too temporary job, you could consider taking Open University courses ...

There are some survey sites you can do online - and there's a whole post about them somewhere, which actually pay out and which to avoid, wish I knew where it was!

Knitting? Crochet? Patchwork? And I don't want any feeble excuses if you're a chap, my grandad made loads of patchwork quilts during the war because he didn't like going to the shelter but he couldn't sleep during air raids, and my brother knitted me a beautiful scarf when I was younger! There, Christmas presents sorted!

I can't think of anything right now but I do sympathise I once had a PT job for 15 hours per week which had, at a push 15 minutes work (local council) it was torturous, I prefer to be busy at work as it gets to finishing time much more quickly.

They have to have someone here to answer the phones - that's my job -
12 hr shifts...... Yesterday I answered 3 calls, and so far today (4hrs so far) I've answered 1!!!)

I do have to make about 10 outgoing calls every 6 hrs tho!!

At least they pay me for it!!
  • Well, this won't earn you any money, but it will keep you amused for a few hours: (providing you can get on it?)

You could post the phone number on the internet, it might increase the ring factor?

  • Ambla, won't it work even if you click through google? I know my mates work control thingy could be by passed if she went through google. (probably doesn't work anymore though)
