Hi does anyone have a recipie for bacon and egg pie I tried the one from an old bero book I used 4 eggs but the egg mix disappeared! Got the pastry just right but the filling was a disaster. This is for my son as I can't eat it as on low carb.

Yes thats the one, followed that, put 4 eggs in and they just went flat it was all bacon and no egg! Thought it would rise like a quiche which I have no problem with, strange.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Did you whisk the eggs? I just crack whole eggs onto the pastry and it comes out lovely.0

If you "paint "the inside of the pastry case with a little beaten egg and then bake it, empty, for a few minutes then this will form a thin shell so that the egg won't disappear. On the other hand, if you want a savoury custard that will rise then use a quiche recipe. After all, if it did rise like a quiche then it would BE a quiche and not a pie. (If you see what I mean!)0

Thanks for all suggestions will try them out, my son came in this morning from his mates birthday barbeque and said the pie was delicious better than his mate's mum's who is a pastry chef! It does look better this morning cold.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

I made one a while ago from a Nigella recipe and it was really good. I can't remember which book, but maybe Googling would find it. I think it was something she makes on Boxing Day, but we had it in the spring and it was much enjoyed, even by my OH who doesn't usually like pastry. If you can't find it I'll have a hunt....0
