Hello, can only second what everyone else has said; get benefits sorted, give the debt charities a call, and then go from there. I dealt with NDL and they were very helpful.
Well done for making this first step, its definitely the hardest. xx0 -
Once you've spoken to the benefit people and you're ready to progress your BR you need to speak to one of the debt charities. See Dalip's signature for contact numbers. If it is the Citizen's Advice that you choose be sure you ask to see a debt specialist. There is no harm in phoning all of them.
I just spoke to the benefits people and they said I'm entitled to approx £150 per week WTC and CTC so they sent me the forms and I posted them back yesterday. I don't know how long I'll have to wait. I was self employed until November last year and didn't even file my llast tax return because I couldn't afford an accountant. I have since filed bankruptcy so we'll see what proof of my income they might need. The man on the phone didn't seem to think it would be a problem. Fingers crossed.

Hi, iver just read what youve posted...my thoughts are with you!!
I know the people on this site will help you (after reading a few threads) it's a community of helpfulness and kindness which goes a long way when all you can see is a world that looks rather bleak and no way to turn it round! (I know, feeling, the exact same way!) I may be claiming bankruptcy too but i still feel very alone by it all...but from reading the support that is behind you i know you can get through this and just take each day as it comes...
I wish you all the best. xxx:T0
