anyone won from Music-News.com?

Options
I have done a search and couldn't see any wins from here, I have looked at Hjb's list and it hasn't been added to that. And I hope that I'm writing this in the best place, wasn't sure if it should be here or on the Comp discussion thread in the main board... anyway...

I was wondering (as you do) whether anyone has actually won anything from the music-news.com site? The reason I ask is because I get the same form to complete for all competitions. The same web address, everything.
For example:

This comp: Win 1 of 5 Sex Pistols DVDs
From here: http://www.music-news.com/ShowCompetition.asp?nCompetitionID=486&
Gives me this entry form: http://www.music-news.com/Newsletter.asp

This comp: Win 1 of 5 Garage Classics Volume II 3xCDs

Which is exactly the same... and when I enter both I don't get any confirmation message - just get taken straight back to the home page.

So how can the site organisers know which comps I've entered and which I haven't?

I don't want to be entering comps that are pointless, but at the same time there are some fab comps on there and don't want to be missing out!

Still it seems weird as noone in here seemed to win from that website. even though they have quite a lot of competitions.

It goes into different boxes at their end, but no I've never heard of any winners either

I always wonder this too, but I suppose it's hard to know if it's one of those where they just turn up?

I posted a thread a few months back about any sites we'd never heard of winners, and I don't think we could work out then either whether people never won from them or whether they were just posted out with no notice!

    too many comps..not enough time!
  • Hi I work for Music-News and can confirm that we do announce winners.

We call them directly to confirm they can make the dates as well as check their details are correct.

Our IT guy tells me that the form submit posts a category code to the database which differentiates which comp you have entered. Its a bit above my understanding of the web.

However I will try to see if we can get a winners page up and running - although we run ten competitions a week so resource might be a bit tight on this.

    Hope this answers you questions.

I must admit, I was wondering the same thing as I haven't won with them. I wondered if you could only enter one comp as you could only subscribe once.

Glad to see I'm wrong though. ;)
