PLEASE do not donate to Operation Christmas Child without looking into the origin of the scheme, Samaritan's Purse are a hardline evangelical Christian fundamental group who use your donations to try to convert vunerable children. Their leader, Franklin Graham, is openly bigotted and preaches hate.

Not at all in the spirit of Christmas.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I have been sending christmas boxes for a few years now. Last year I did 6 but this year intend to do more and started buying bits and pieces in January. I already had a lot of things including:

    notebooks
    pencils
    erasers
    pencil sharpeners
    crayons
    teddies
    small cars
    jewellery
    hair bands and clips
    toothpaste and toothbrushes
    combs
    tennis balls
    playing cards
    dominoes
some musical instruments such as recorders, tambourines etc
    soap

I still need to get things like socks, gloves, hats. I have knitted some teddies and my mum has knitted some lovely brightly coloured clowns.
The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie
  • Just got a few more bits today. Twin packs of toothbrushes are 14p in Sainsburys and got some Tesco Value flannels for 20p each. I also plan to sew some little purses out of some pretty fabric that I've got and then will be looking out for good value scarves and gloves when the winter clothing appears.

I agree Wilkos is absolutely brilliant for colouring pens etc. I might print some colouring in pictures from the web to make up some colouring books rather than buying them.

Shamelessly bumping this thread so more people get to see.

I'm going to do a couple of boxes.

Hiya .. i had a letter home from my daughters school for "love in a box" .. does anyone know how these have to be wrapped?
It says instructions are on the letter but there are none on it apart from ideas on how to fill them!

  • piratess-you wrap the box and lid seperatly then put elastic band round to keep shut (dont wrap contents they need to be checked)
