I've searched on the internet for it, but I can't find it.
Does anyone know where I can find it?

Most supermarkets do beef sausages now, often in the Finest/TTD ranges, I'd just try frying them, make a basic tomato & basil sauce (like you would for pasta) then pop the sausages into the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes, and serve with mash. Let us know how you get on!2015 comp wins - £370.25

Eh?
Anyway, as above, you can get really good quality (over 67% meat, some are even 95% meat) sausages in supermarkets.
I'd do them with my simple Italian tomato sauce. I'd fry the sausages with the oil, garlic and onion from the sauce, then add the chopped tomatoes and basil and simmer away.
I'll gladly PM you the recipe for the sauce.
PS. The more I think about this, the more I fancy giving it a try. I never thought that I'd find myself re-creating airliine food! The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Be glad of that pm, better still why don't you post it here I'm sure others would like it too.:D0 -
Your wish is my command, my lady ...
OLD & SILLY’S BEEF SAUSAGES IN A TOMATO SAUCE WITH MASH
Serves 2
INGREDIENTS
2 cloves of garlic
2 onion
375g of old potatoes*
250ml of water
¼ of a teaspoon of salt
½ a tablespoon of butter
½ a tablespoon of milk
Ground pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of olive oil
4 beef sausages**
400g tin of plum tomatoes***
2 teaspoons of basil
Ground pepper to taste
METHOD
Peel the garlic and chop it into tiny pieces. Peel the onions and chop them into tiny pieces. Peel the potatoes and chop them into quarters.
Put the water and salt into a saucepan on a medium heat. Add the potatoes. Bring to the boil, then turn down the heat until it is just boiling (simmering). Put the lid on the saucepan and cook for 20 to 25 minutes until soft. Check the water level from time to time and top up if it starts to dry out.
Drain the potatoes and mash with the butter and milk until it is smooth and lump free. Season with the pepper.
Put the oil into a frying pan on a medium heat. Add the garlic, onion and sausages. Fry the garlic, onion and sausages for about 2 minutes. Stir frequently to stop it sticking.
Open the tin of tomatoes. Put the juice into the pan. Chop the tomatoes while they are still in the can (it’s easier than chasing them around the pan).
Put the chopped tomatoes into the pan. Add the basil. Continue to cook, stirring as the mixture boils. Season with the pepper. Continue to cook, stirring as the mixture boils, until the sauce has reduced and the sausages are thoroughly cooked.
Serve with the mashed potato.
* New potatoes make rubbish mashed potato. Use old ones like King Edward’s or Desiree Reds.
** Use good quality sausages. The more meat in them the better. There are few tastier foods in the world than a meaty, herby British sausage. There is nothing worse than a bland, mass-produced tube of pink stodge.
*** Plum tomatoes can be used either whole or chopped. It is difficult to stick chopped tomatoes back together again if you need to use them whole. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
For the sausages, try and get hold of Debbie and Andrews 'Sicilian' sausages - they would be fab with the italian sauce!

(no connection - just a happy customer who stumbled across them at the Good Food show last year!)

I've had those before (not the Sicilian ones though).
They were really nice, agreed the Italian/Sicilan versions would be well worth trying.0 -
Firstly, I've re-worked my tomato sauce recipe in the post above to include the sausages and even the mashed potato.
Secondly, I always test my recipes, and I did this for my dinner on Monday. I used some ASDA standard own-brand beef sausages. (I've had their pork ones, and was very pleasantly surprised: 67% meat, and not overloaded with herbs, so you can actually taste the meat.) The beef ones were 72% meat and also not "over-herbed". I specifically didn't want this, as they were going to be in a very herby sauce.
All I can say is ...
1. Thank you to "Zilli" for the original idea.
2. Thank you to Mrs E for telling me about it.
3. It was absolutely bl**dy delicious. A really different Italian take on "bangers & mash"! (Remember that old song with Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren?)The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
