Baby steps toward bankruptcy

I stopped paying all my bills last May/June and just went BR in April this year, so that was 10-11 months without any real action being taken. I didn't answer my phone before 9 pm and if they phoned my mobile, their numbers were easy to detect. But, you're right if you can't cope with it, try something else.

18 months from my last payment to going bankrupt and all I got was the letters, no phone calls, just RED letters threataning me with court, ccjs, baliffs ect.
But I did move house so prob slowed the DCAs down a bit."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

MBNA virgin account and 3 mobile started calling me at midnight blaming their computers. Stopped when CAB called and quoted harrassment law. Thats why im maybe over cautious but that doesnt usually happen. CAB recommendations reflect everyones advice, stop paying creditors, save and borrow from loved ones if you can.Debts incurred through illness and homelessness, starting a degree in September, going bankrupt in November and having a well deserved fresh start in January 2009! I've got landline for our broadband account but have left the phone disconnected for the last 12 month (so housemates couldnt rack up a bill). anyone who knows me just phones my mobile (i phone them back if neccessary). I haven't missed the landline at all. I would advise doing the same if you're worried about the calls.matched betting: £879.63

Thank you all for your support and advice. I just talked to CCCS and they agree I should declare bankruptcy as it would take 16 years to clear my debts. They were lovely and very helpful as always. I will no longer be paying my creditors from this month but I have a few weeks breathing space before they realize this months payment hasn't been made. As an extra step I've started filling in the forms online.
Just one question when my creditors ring should I tell them that I'm not paying because I'm saving to declare bankruptcy or just say I can't afford it?"You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger

Hi Ix,
You don't need to tell them anything. But if you do feel the need, just tell them you are seeking advice from the debt charities and will contact them with a proposal when it's been finalised. As you haven't missed any payments yet you may well find your creditors will put a note on your file and leave you alone for a couple of weeks.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Hiya IX as peachy suggests you dont really have to say anything....if its any consilation I had no missed payments and before creditors started to contact me i'd already gone BRWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

I wouldn't tell them you're thinking of bankruptcy, just say you are working with CCCS to come up with a solution.
