Any baby matress can be linked to cot death. They have to be proper specifications and tested thoroughly etc.

Details on the matress from the website states this:

This cot bed mattress will add comfort to any cotbed. This foam mattress with breathable cover comes in white and is suitable for use from 3 months+ (weight 36kg+).

Just to add my two penneth in...

A cheap changing unit was the best thing we bought. 2 babies later it's getting ready for the tip but its been fantastic, especially for the back! I would urge anyone tight for space and money to forget about expensive fads, toys & clothes and wisely spend your money on one of these.

I would be shocked if a company like Tesco would retail anything which didn't comply to current safety regulations. There are so many 'scares' and worries put to new parents and old ones for that matter. Terrible incidents do happen but there are many healthy children sleeping on inexpensive mattresses.

Great find, only wish I actually needed one

I think a changing unit is down to personal preference to be honest. I have 2 children, my youngest is only 14 months old and however much I wanted one I knew deep down it would never get used. The pull down ones in changing rooms bug the life out of me, they are awkward and not enough width for a wriggling baby! The floor is much safer and there is nothing wrong with a changing mat which costs around £5 from most baby stores. But as I said it is down to personal preference.
