Hi all, long time lurker and decided to register. I am after the above, any ideas on where i can find one? I have done a search both on here and on the internet but no real joy!!
Ideally what I am looking for is something like a spreadsheet that will allow me to add meals with full ingredient lists, on the meal planner side i could input the required meal and it would automatically add the ingredients required to a shopping list which can be edited depending on what is already in the cupboard.
Hope that this makes sense, and any help would be appreciated.
Maybe someone techie could make one????
Thanks
DSB

Thes best one I have found is the Weekly Meal Planner, made by joesave. You can download it here (if you scroll down to the bottom, it is the last download available)
It has a list of recipes, with ingredients which you can change and add to as necessary. You then select which meal you want each day, and the spreadsheet automatically brings up a list of ingredients. You then create a shopping list, ticking the ingredients you need to buy (so you can leave out the ones you already have).
Check it out, I have found it invaluable in my meal planning

They are a part of Microsoft Office, they can be a security hazard if you don't know what the file is but you will be safe with this one, so click the option to open the file anyway.
Microsoft is a bit paranoid about security, like most American things!I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
I love this but when I click to make a list I get a message about macros sorry dont unerstand what they are can anyone explain?
The macros are what makes the spreadsheet work. The macros in this spreadsheet basically look at the mealplan, apply it to the recipes to make a table of ingredients, which is then used to make the shopping list. So you need to click on allow macros when asked, to make this work
The reason Excel asks you first before allowing files containing macros is because some macros can contain viruses. You should only allow macros if the file is from a trusted source. This spreadsheet is safe as I've used it and loads of others have too. HTH

Someone posted www.shoppingplanner.co.uk last week which I think looks great, its free to use and you just need to plug all your recipes in (although there are already some there) and then you move it to a particular date and it will work out a shopping list for you for the period you want. I've got a menu plan til the end of next week so I'm getting all my recipes in there so I can do one after that, I'm forever miscalculating how many potatoes/chicken breasts/packs of mince I need and having to pop back out to the shops. Hoping this will allow me to do a monthly shop and then just pop out to get milk & fresh stuff!0

On the spreadsheet, at the bottom, there is a little tab which says recipes - to alter them/add a new recipe, you just type in the boxes, as you would a normal spreadsheet.
I don't think the recipes are available anywhere else, if thats what you mean.We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

thanks Bunny, this looks great!Do you know if the personal recipes you add can be viewed by everyone else on the site? My recipes are a bit odd sometimes - I like them, but they often get strange looks from others. But on this site you have to describe your recipes by keywords so that they can be easily found by anyone. Does that mean they become shared recipes?
