As this is a diary, I'll mention another item of post. Yesterday I came home to find a Royal Mail ticket for a recorded delivery letter. 'Wot' I thought, 'Not the cheque already? I rushed up to collect it this morning, thinking it was more likely a letter from Hayley at the AA saying she was sorry. It was from my manager. He always writes to me by recorded delivery. I don't think he thinks I take him seriously (picture, if you will, Keith from The Office). He wants to arrange a 'Keeping in Touch meeting' (his capitals, my quotation marks). One of the stated aims of this meeting is to 'help reduce any feeling of isolation'. This comes from a man (and I mean that in the very loosest sense) who put me on two charges of serious misconduct for a single clerical error in claiming my overtime. Isolated? Persecuted, yes. They can't technically get me out on my sickness record so they're desperate to find something. I'm only signed off until Tuesday but I can't go back until I feel ready, that is ready to deal with sitting on a team who have given 'evidence' against me, and senior management who have an axe to grind. My GP says I'm not to go back until I'm ready - I only need to phone him for more time. I'm not malingering - I've had one stress-induced heart attack and in January I lost 13 pints of blood in a couple of days - nobody knows quite why. After the heart attack I was back at work after 3 months. After January I had five weeks off. It has taken 6 months to get my iron level back to normal. Being told you are going to have most of your intestines removed if you don't stop bleeding within the hour (if you live that long) puts a whole new perspective on pretty much everything. So I'm going to take the opportunity to sort out some more debts before I go back - if I go back.
This site, and certain people in particular, have made my many hours of dealing with creditors rewarding even before I get a result, and the positive atmosphere has made me really apply myself to getting things done, so thanks everyone - and thanks for taking an interest in this thread.Night owl member Tventy Four ah ahWhere is the wisdom we lost in knowledgeWhere is the knowledge we lost in information. Have you had the same problem? When I think I can't be bothered I close my eyes and imagine the Welcome Finance head office on the day they're told to pay up. It looks something like this:

To the tune of 'Postman Pat'
Nationwide, Nationwide, Nationwide have a letter for you
It's not another red one
It's not another threatning one
Its just a note to say that from next month your
PPI
PPI
PPI will be better than now
We've added some enhancements
So if you'd kept up payments
You could have had 200 pounds a month.Night owl member Tventy Four ah ahWhere is the wisdom we lost in knowledgeWhere is the knowledge we lost in information. T.S. EliotWhen I became a man I put away childish things. BibleYesterday I found them on top of the wardrobe. Vlad0 -
Capital One
Capital One
Capital One Bank PLC
They've sent you all these statements
to help reclaim your charges
I do hope they're all there they weigh a ton
Postman Pat
Take them back
Take them back to capital One
and quote the DPA -A
That they have forty day-ays
to find the rest and send them here to me
Postman Pat
That looks fat
Postman Pat could it be that they've sent
another stack of rubbish
with four years' statements missing
precisely like the one I sent them back
(repeat verse 2)
Postman Pat
Three months on
Here we are with another big bag
Of absolutely useless
reams of in-house code words
Duplicates of what I had before
(Repeat verse 2 with gusto)Night owl member Tventy Four ah ahWhere is the wisdom we lost in knowledgeWhere is the knowledge we lost in information. T.S. EliotWhen I became a man I put away childish things. BibleYesterday I found them on top of the wardrobe. Vlad0 -
To date, in response to my DPA request for 6 years' statements in March, Capital one have sent three envelopes containing over 200 sheets of paper. 17 of them contained readable statements. I have a comprehensive guide to their codes and jargon and text abbrieviations, a copy of a blank acceptance form for a CC with all the possibilities ready to be deleted, which is interesting, and a photocopy of someone's timesheet. Request number four was sent last week.Night owl member Tventy Four ah ahWhere is the wisdom we lost in knowledgeWhere is the knowledge we lost in information. T.S. well that's today's post - most of it anyway. Got 80% on my latest OU TMA. Next one's due in in 5 days, I suppose I'd better have a look at it. As its the 4th Friday in the month I think I might go and have a long bath while I think of a project topic. I'll see you in the owls later, mine's a Guinness with a Glenlivet chaser, and if you're doing food, a murghi massala, kima naan, 6 spicy puppydumps and a side salad with mint sauce please. Bubbles is paying.Night owl member Tventy Four ah ahWhere is the wisdom we lost in knowledgeWhere is the knowledge we lost in information. T.S. EliotWhen I became a man I put away childish things. Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0
