Disgusted and Upset

Hi Guys.

I've been away most of the week and while I think this probably should be laid to rest I just wanted to say...

I think people are forgetting the REASON this board exists.

The whole thing with IA and the bickering has disgusted and upset me, I am not intending to 'have a go' at anyone and will apologise if anyone take this that way.

But as far as I understood this board is for support and debt assistant, not to have a go at people because you disagree with them.

We are all entitled to voice an opinion and we are also entitle to not be shot down for voicing that opinion. We all spend money of stuff we can't afford, but that doesn't make us bad people.

In 4 days this board has become something I don't recognise and don't like. And I am sure if anyone from MSE Height were to read it they would be horrified that this had come to this.

Maybe we should concentrate on HELPING people with the problems they come here with, we make friends along the way and accept that people are different with different opinions.

My debt has gone up since I came back here, that doesn't make me a bad person, it makes me human.

I just needed to get this off my chest as I wonder how many newbies have needed help and have been put off or ignored because of everything that has happen resently.

I am sorry if this offends anyone it is not meant to, but maybe some back to basics would help everyone here.

    Well said!

I have just ignored that thread even though it continues to be put back to the top.

Personally I think it should be closed or moved as I know if I was a newbie now I wouldn't be joining the forum if that was the first post I came to.

Im sorry, I haven't read all of IA's thread as it has obviously gone into bickering. But it needs to be closed, and so does this, we will just end up having hte same arguments time and time again.

The problem is these boards used to be full of people who wanted to pay back their debt and improve their lives. Now the boards are increasingly being populated by people who want to avoid their debts or get a quick fix way out.

Last night IA was really hoping that the thread would get back on track, so it was left open. That doesn't appear to have happened, so it is now closed.

Is that the diary or the failure thread. It would be sad if her debt diary was closed.

    Just the "failure" thread.

Whilst I haven't read all of IA's thread, I understand how she might be feeling. But I also think that broken hearted has a point too. There a lot of people on the boards who are desparate who don't understand that the help given on this board is not a quick fix and means hard work (something IA has done a lot over the last 12 months or so, whilst dealing with alot of other tough stuff as well). When they find out there is no magic bullet, people can lash out.

So I think that you are right to lock IA leaving thread. But we should also prepare ourselves for a lot of people who want an easy way out and are going to be very upset when we don't supply it.

And NO I was not thinking of anyone specifically AT ALL when I wrote the above.

I'm sorry to say this Lucy, because you know I usually support you in whatever you are doing, but I think starting another thread about how terrible THAT thread is could well be counter productive.

The best thing would be to just let it be forgotten now. These rows flare up every so often, and after a few days, everything calms down and goes back to normal - but if people feel they are being criticised for expressing an opinion, they will want to answer that criticism, and off we will all go again.

Can we now close this one too - it's the "Failure" thread by another name.
