I received my Bzz kit for McCains a couple of days ago, and today went to Tesco to use the voucher which gives a free packet.

However, the till assistant refused to accept it, she was pointing at the screen and saying it couldn't be used, suggesting I use another supermarket, as it wasn't valid at Tesco.

She eventually called over a manager who reluctantly decided to accept it, but only at value £1.75, not the full cost of the McCains product, which was on offer at £2.

The assistant said it isn't worth bringing in any more McCains vouchers, as they had only refunded this one as a one off, and wouldn't do so again.

Her whole tone was domineering and patronising, and very embarrassing. Usually Tesco assistants are friendly and helpful, but she was awful.

Have others' McCains coupons been accepted at Tesco?

Although am I right in thinking that the ones on offer for £2 are the 4 packs of potatoes and the free packet is a 2 pack....

The store manager shouldnt really have accepted it as it clearly shows a picture of a 2 pack on the voucher....there is no obligation to give you a free pack of 4 and yes its up to the managers discretion if he accepts the voucher at face value of £1.75 towards the purchase

i had no problem exchanging my voucher in tesco for the correct product.

By the sound of it the Tesco you used was an Express store and they usually charge more than the bigger Tesco stores and don't always like to take coupons. The vouchers do state that they are worth a maximum of £1.75 so they were correct in this. Price on mysupermarket at the moment is £1.60-1.75 so the voucher would cover the product in the big 4 supermarkets.

I bought my jacket potatoes today in Tesco as well, and actually the coupon didn't work, even though I had the 2 pack at £1.65, the coupon just didn't scan, but the checkout assistant still put it through as she saw no reason not too.

  • I think op just didn't read that it was for a 2 pack.

Picked up my 2 pack in waitrose and got 10p off my shop.

  • My coupon for the 2 pack McCain jacket potatoes wouldn't scan either and the assistant had to call the supervisor over who allowed it to go through. Thankfully the assistant was also a bzzagent, so knew what I was talking about.

My coupon wouldn't scan at the checkout and was told go to customer services who tried and eventually said I should go to another supermarket as tesco doesn't accept all the vouchers. So I hope I like these potatoes now as I have bought them and still have the coupon for a free box.

Maybe the people who have had issues with the McCain Jackets vouchers should post something on the Bzz facebook page, hopefully if enough people complain they can do something about it.

Wish I could leave another review for the Colour Catcher Sheets as I spent last night and this morning emptying water out of my broken washing machine, and wringing sopping clothes out in the bath because my pump filter had a sheet wedged in it.
