Could I get the P&P cost refunded?

Here is my scenario guys...

Placed an order online with Topman for a pair of JEANS and a SCARF, and wanting to wear them this weekend - I placed the order and paid the £5 for next day delivery.

Got an email hours later (after I had gone to work) to find that the order had been dispatched WITHOUT the jeans, because they had gone out of stock since placing the order.

So the order was dispatched with just a £10 scarf and £5 postage. I only paid the £5 postage because I wanted both items together ideally.

So I've today placed another order for an alternative pair of jeans, once again paying the £5 next day delivery postage - can I get one of the £5 postage costs back do you think, because after all, if I'd known they'd only be sending the scarf out, I would have cancelled the order?

Yeah, I don't see why not. I'd try emailing their customer services department and explain what happened. Email address: customer.service@topman.com or Customer Service number for Arcadia: 02076368040 (if they try and fob you off with an 0870 number don't ring it, it will end up costing you more than the fiver you are wanting to save!). Also it's just a thought but I was sure that if you're ordering a replacement they shouldn't charge you the second lot of P&P. In future check out the fashion forum on https://www.handbag.com there is a thread for discount codes and the arcadia ones work on any of their sites (or so I've been told!).

Yes,I would expect them to refund at least some.

Hi, I had a similar experience with Bodens, ordered four items and a £4 delivery charge, three items out of stock.

I emailled their customer service dept and asked for the postage charge of £4 to be waived on my next order. They sent an email by return giving a refund and apology as well as a free credit for the next order. Very good customer service from Bodens, so give it a whirl, will only take an email.
  • Thanks for your advice guys, Topman (eventually!) refunded one of the postages - and now the item I ordered has arrived and its faulty! Ha, typical!
