that does sound right and its very very poor :)
The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

    Story of my life!!

All I really need the internet for is browsing this site (of course!) and the general paying bills, buying stuff etc etc. I dont download any music or videos, or use it to anywhere near its potential.

I know it is an old knacker - like its owner - but will cleaning it up improve it?

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply

yes reinstalling will improve it..but u will have to bite the bullet one day and get a new laptop :)

the time taken to do all that could be spent on the dell website ordering a flash new one (they come in red!!!)

reinstalling is not for novices, one word of advice make sure you copy the latest networking driver/install files onto the usb stick just incase windows does not recognise your network card (or wifi card)

  • One of the main reasons that I need to reinstall everything, is that my OH's son decided to register everything in his name, set up passwords for everything he could think of, then leave home without letting anyone know any of his passwords!! He cant remember any of them himself, and has tried God knows how many different passwords to delete files, but they are all wrong. Reinstalling is the only way I can think of to remedy this - apart from buying a new laptop (which I will do soon....promise!!)
