Hanging up my calculator! (For the brokers really).

Hey all

I should have done this a while back, maybe when NR went pop! But hey timing is everything!

After a car crash year and pushing me and my family to the limit I am hanging up my advisers boots and leaving the industry.

Its a shame after starting as a cashier 9 years ago but I must admit, other than not having a boss and the money I am not going to miss it!

I will still be about to either offer advice or wind you all up, depending on the mood!

I will be changing my sig to something a little less official!

Dan

Sounds good! Hope it all goes well for you.

I couldn't imagine leaving mortgages, I absoloutely love my job, love helping people, love the flexibility. I know its not a breeze at the moment, but I just couldn't change.

With the fee structure that I know a certain networks levy ( ie all % based, no flat fees) isn't it worth staying in the industry ( even if part time) to keep your "licence" - and do any odd bit that might turn up.

whether as part of the your existing AR group, another AR of the network
( willing to take people on with low volumes) or even direct AR of the Network- not telling them of the likely low volumes but paying a higher cut due to this fact

Thought about and no. I love being self employed but only being self employed for 3 years has kind of gone against me. I have had a hole in my book so no remos for a few months. With a son and one on the way I need security.

Also I have had my eyes opened. There is more to life than financial services. I had have been looking at working for Banks and cant be doing with it all.

I am 100% turning my back on FS. I dont think I will be back other than my opinion on here and a beer with the lads!

    Good Luck Dan,

I know exactly how you feel (and so will the majority of self-employed advisers I think) looks like I chose the wrong time to go s/e (just coming up to 2 years), but I don't know anything else - think I can tough it out for a couple more months, to see if picks up but after that i'll be done for (and probably joining the people asking for debt advice and the other boards!!)

    Good Luck again!
