upholstery cleaning

Just had a sofa donated - very grateful for this obviously....

However it smells really strongly of cigarette smoke - to the point where its spread through my whole flat and you can smell it when you walk through the front door.

Any ideas how I can get rid of the smell? I'm on a REALLY tight budget.

put it outside on a windy day?
Hoover it and hoover it and hoover it...
sprinkle it with shake and vac and hoover it...
I think the windy day idea is the best one it used to work with tops that I *ahem* wore out clubbing and then returned....:o

bicarb of soda!!!

It's the active ingredient in shake n vac!

Just buy the largest container you can find and sprinkle over the sofa and cushions, leave overnight then vaccum off.

Then sprinkle it on the floors, etc to remove room smells.

Obviously mixed with a good dose of fresh air also works wonders!

Its magic!
