Sometimes the box office get returns, try daily on the website. This is pretty much the only way you will get face value ones. The tickets go on sale around xmas the year before and are always a sellout. It is such a popular event that you are not going to get 'cheap' tickets a couple weeks before the performance! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Would totally agree with gunsandbanjos. I tried and failed to get tickets on website last Oct. You will find them for sale on Ebay but most are way above face value. Good hunting.

According to The Scotsman, there have been lots of returned tickets already this year, so check the website / contact the box office0

They were queuing from 4.30 am for the dress rehearsal tickets at the beginning of the week so very little chance of getting tickets for a specific performance let alone cheap ones! But you could check some of the hotels who offer a package deal.0

As suggested, you can check for returns at the Tattoo Office, you might get it at face value. Or, check out Edinburgh Gumtree (tickets section) - you might get lucky and get it at face value. The last resort - try it along Royal Mile on the performance day itself. Tour agents/touters selling the extra tickets off last minute, sometimes at even lower than face value when the weather is lousy.
I live in Edinburgh. All these suggestions - tried and tested.
Good luck!0 -

You were too early trying to buy them in october, they dont sell out super fast but they do sell out. Try Dec/Jan is your best bet.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
We went to this about 10 years back and it was brilliant.
However, a word of caution with the seats. Think baggage class airline seat width - then halve it. The seating at this event (when I went about 10 years ago) seemed designed for child sized behinds (and I'm a size 12). You are very much shoulder to shoulder with the next person and there was hardly any legroom either. It is extremely cramped. If you like or need a bit more room it may worth seeing if there is better seating available.
(Of course it may have changed since I went).0 -
Same seats - though they are going to replace them within the next few years as it takes too long to set up and take down the current setDeleted_User wrote: »(Of course it may have changed since I went).0
