Just thought Id post a link ive stumbled across. I've copied the first bit so you get the jist of it. I'm glad theyre making the process easier... (although i know people say its not so terrifying in reality)
If its ok to send out pre-approved application forms to teens on their 18th birthday, and bombard them with adverts from their 16th birthday, it should be equally as easy for people who get into trouble to get help.
"Quickie online bankruptcies to be introduced next year could allow indebted people to file for bankruptcy even when they are not bankrupt
Debt Relief Orders will be introduced by the Government next April and will allow people to have their debts wiped out online without having to go near a bankruptcy court.
They are aimed at people who owe less than £15,000, have surplus income of less than £50 per month, assets of less than £300 and cannot afford to make themselves bankrupt through the courts..."

Debts incurred through illness and homelessness, starting a degree in September, going bankrupt in November and having a well deserved fresh start in January 2009! Bring on the new year! Interested in thrifty living, and if its green all the better for it! xxx

That should help relieve the pressure on the courts, could be likened to a quicky divorce. The triumph of hope over experience

I agree as it seems in some area's that the courts are buried and lets be honest with the way this country and government are carrying on there will be many more people heading there way.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

However the online bankruptcies will not be policed as tightly as the existing system and may be open to abuse, according to insolvency experts.
Open to Abuse? so is the current system, (from both sides) and is no where near as tightly policed as they imply due to restricted resources
Sounds like these so called insolvency experts are more concerned in the loss of income to them to me:pThats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….

This is fantastic for people in my situation, long term illness living in council property and claiming IB and DLA. I would fall into this category and if it was not for a backpay of benefits I would have been saving a hell of a long time for my fees.
Will probably stop the IVA vultures too, so sounds a good thing to me."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

But doesn't it smack of doing nothing to actually solve the problem, just a way that is open to abuse (and I mean that in terms of people doing something that they haven't thought about properly and it not actually being the best for them) and a quick fix rather than actually addressing this country's problems - we're a nanny state already so why not go a little further and nanny the finance sector by stopping all the borrowing? (Rhetorical question, I know why).
Can the powers that be not see this country is going further and further and further down a mud slide? I soooo wish I could find a little island and escape all the madness - not even M&S chicken and bacon sandwiches are worth sticking around for (grump grump Pixie today
) Do not feed the trolls please.0 -
Wow this is great news. make life so much easier. maybe there will be a reduction in Suicde / depression from people that dont see a way out.
I wonder if it is just England / Wales or Scotland / Ireland aswell.
Its good that the goverment is starting to think out of the box a little.Bankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -

Stop the borrowing?? That would never work, the goverment wouldnt stand a chance if they couldnt borrow money from elsewhere!Bankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -

George Orwell was Correct he just got the year wrong.
But I agree with PurpleKyle those who are in debt and leads to Depression/Suicide its a viable option to take away that stress.
Lets face it its sooooooooo easy to obtain Credit upon Credit, then when your in financial difficulties you can get credit to consolodate your Credit. Theres no wonder a normal person suddenly finds them self owning unsecured debts in the region that would have bought you a small house a few years back.
Its a way out for those who have found themselves in hard times and situations that they feel are beyond there control. (I know my illness is beyond my control!!!)."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
