I read in the Times yesterday that "Royal Sun Alliance shines on hopes of US performance" referring to it's performance in the US stock market. Does this suggest potential improvement on our with-profit endowments which are now controlled by Phoenix or are they completely separate entities and that it means nothing?
Fraid so.Nothing to do with RSA any more. The new owners are here:

Thanks Ed,
God, that really sticks in the throat.... Any chance we could sue these companies for damage to health? Just kidding (almost)

Hi all,
I noticed today, a brief mention on the news, of how well the stock market is now performing so my immediate thought was that it should help improve our underperforming endowment policies but then, it quickly dawned on me that any profits on our investments are now more than likely going to go to straight to the Phoenix company that now have control on our Royal Sun Alliance policies?
I'm I right, are we merely paying premiums to provide profits to this opportunist company? Don't we, the policy holders have any right to a fair share of any future "Profits" in accordance with our original agreement?
Hopefully I am just being paranoid and that some fairness will still remain within this situation - would appreciate any confirmation on this though?0 -

The stockmarket drop and recovery has been ideal for those in unit linked equity funds. Just what you need to boost the value long term (albeit showing shortfalls in the short term - another limitation of these projections!). With profits funds though are made up of a range of asset classes with varying degrees of stockmarket content. Some have little or no content no so have missed the recovery.
R&SA WP fund offers little potential short or long term.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
