red dyed streaks in hair faded very quickly, is this normal?

A couple of months ago I had my T Bar done with red and blondes. I have been using the tresemme shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair since the start. Think its the colour revitalize one I've been using. Not one for blonde/brunette they just brought out.
The blondes are still going strong, but the reds have faded right down to almost not there. Just wondered if this is normal with perminate red hair dyes or maybe if I should have used a different product.
I really liked it when it was first done, and would like to get the red put back in, but if its going to fade out after 2 months each time, at £35 a go I can't really justify it.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or if it faded out faster than it should have?
Thanks

Yep yep, that's very normal. I used to have bright red (post box type colour) in my hair and it didn't last long. Did your hairdresser not warn you? Mine did.:A I love MSE!!! :A0

Red dye fades very quick because the molecules that comprise the 'redness' are very large. Something like that anyway! But yes, it's usual for red to fade fast unfortunately.0

Hi Trace...
I know it sounds clatty but when i have my red done i try and not wash my hair for as many days as possible afterwards...:o
I think it really hepls to keep the colour if you postpone the 1st wash

Hi,
yes this is very normal for red dye's I used to dye my hair red and it used to fade to ginger  then I got my sense back and now just lighten my hair

I might be wrong, but isn't it also true that while red fades really quickly, paradoxically it is also the most difficult colour to remove completely? Like tinges of red can be VERY stubborn to remove?0

Thanks everyone. Glad to know at least that it wasn't me doing something wrong. I guess it's worse because I have to wash my hair every other day, sometimes everyday because my roots are quite greasy.
I also found just after it was done it knotted up like hell, but thats calmed down now and is no where near as bad.
Damn pain that the reds don't last though, I really liked it. I would get it done at local college but have bladder problems and really couldn't cope being in a busy salon for so long, which is a real shame as it would be a lot cheaper.0 -
Yeah, it's a real shame, but they do

Last year I had my hair dyed a dark dark brown with bright red streaks - it looked great! Unfortunately within a couple of months it had faded into a ginger colour....comparisons to tabby cats were made by many people lol.
I ended up dying it dark red (feria dark ruby red), and have been ever since. Incenditily, does anyone know whether a hair dresser could dye it back to a lightish brown and put streaks in it - I hate home hair dying, and want something more natural. Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190
