Hmmmm, I think as long as your keep the product, they will let you extend the term? Definitely worth asking, than, as you said, you can overpay to keep you in line with your original term.
You're definitely right to disclose the money on your credit card, but if you're in a position to have this paid off by the time you complete on the new property, do so and make sure you tell them as it will make a difference.
Depending on your OH's age, if your appeal is rejected, I think your best bet will be to extend the term! Alternaively, if your OH has a job offer in writing for the new company which he has accepted and is due to start soon, then the underwriters may be prepared to base the loan on his new salary.0 -

Result. They let us extend our term on the original mortgage to raise the multiple. Thanks for everyone's help/insight....just got to that small matter of finding a buyer for our house:o0 -
