They are normally excellent if you are based in this country, which is why they are in my signature. I'm not sure how well placed they are to advise on issues to do with living abroad and bankruptcy and petitioning at the High Court.
But for any of the advice organisations that is not going to be an everyday query, so......
On the UK bank account, I presume that account is one that is not overdrawn. If not then it should be OK to remove one name, but you would be best to query in ins and outs of that with the bank.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks both - yes, the plan is currently to have my name removed from the joint UK bank account. We've been overdrawn with them from time to time, but it always gets paid off each month - hopefully they won't give us any trouble....0

Just one thing to add, you mentioned continuing freelance work in the UK. If this means you are self-employed, you should try to get an appointment with a CCCS self-employment specialist. Also, it may be a good idea to get advice from Business Debtline - the small business/self-employed arm of National Debtline. Sorry I don't have the number to hand, it may be in Tiger's signature or someone else's, or you can get it from their website. The combination of circumstances in your case, ie freelance work and living abroad, means it is essential to get as much specialist advice as possible.
Good luck

Hi
Just wanted to wrap up this thread by saying thanks to everyone who's posted, and everyone who's read it for that matter. We're going to be setting the various balls in motion, waiting for my appointment with the CCCS, and doing a lot of hard thinking, planning and calculating.
When all that's done I'll most likely start a diary thread so anyone else can benefit from our experience and all the help & advice we've received.
thanks again!0
