Thanks for the info, had a quick look on the site; lots to choose from! The need for a new catrd stems from the strange magenta tint I get on my tft screen. I swapped machines and cables and decided it was the graphics card at fault.0

Don't be too hasty! This problem could be nothing more than a colour temperature setting gone awry. What graphics card do you currently have?thistleboon wrote:The need for a new catrd stems from the strange magenta tint I get on my tft screen.0 -
PC Pro A-list online will advise of the best performance and best value card.

I don't think the problem lies with colour temperature, as I have swapped the screen over onto another computer and it works correctly. I have also used a diferent lead in case there was a problem with that, and there was no improvement. The card itself must be hard mounted on the m/board and looks as if it is a Intel Extreme Graphic product. The problem iis intermittent too, the screen is fine for weeks possibly months, then, bingo, changes colour!!0

Whilst I have noticed that monitors appear to 'remember' the display parameters applied to each video display device connected to them, you may be right. It seems a little odd though; I've seen this sort of thing happen twice, and in neither case was the graphics chipset to blame.thistleboon wrote:I don't think the problem lies with colour temperature, as I have swapped the screen over onto another computer and it works correctly.
In the first instance, the monitor (a CRT) was at fault; an ex-display model, there was a noticeable discoloration spreading from the corner of the screen. Sometimes de-gaussing had some effect, sometimes not. In the second instance, I'd been playing around with the video settings of my nVidia graphics card: see the section on Color Correction here.0 -
I can certainly adjust the colours using the screen or the software, which fixes the problem until the next time it goes majenta. I do a lot of digital imaging, so I need to have correct colours.
Thanks again for your help.0
