Stair & Landing Carpet

Hi,
We are looking to buy a new stair and landing carpet after our relatively new disaster.
Our house is a new build bought almost 5 years ago, it came with bog standard builders carpets that were adequate but nothing special. Earlier this year we decided to change it because I was sick of the green colour (it went with a lot of the things from old house,however have gradually replaced these items,so didn't match).
We picked a cream 100% wool carpet thinking it would be hardwaring - BIG MISTAKE. The colour doesnt seem to be an issue,however the wool aspect is a nightmare!! It is impossible to clean and actually makes any marks much worse!! The carpet is less than 6 months old and looks awful - the builders 'bog standard' looked better!!
Anyhow, because of the markings our insurance have agreed to pay to replace it - I am looking for any ideas of the best,hardwearing,easy to clean type of carpet as we have quite a large galleried landing and 3 children!
I'm not looking for best price or shop just the most suitable type of carpet for our situation.
