I watched that show last night with Martin about mortgages etc.
Im very lucky in that i have 3 years left of my fixed rate (5 yr deal), BUT while watching last night my ears pricked up when he said that if you miss credit payments etc it affects the mortgage your offered.
Am i in deep poo then, because myself and my OH are in a DMP, sooooo will than mean in Sept 2011 when we start looking for a new mortgage for Nov 2011 that we'll get offered a bit fat nothing???
Im trying not to worry as of course its 3 years down the track, but we have got a 100% mortgage, im just very very greatful for the advice we got off here and went for a fixed rate as we do not need to sell.
However if what im asking is correct am i definately going to get my butt into gear and try and pay more per mth to payplan, well when my OH gets a job that is....

The whole point of a DMP means that you can afford your mortgage whatever happens.
As you know I am two years into my DMP and I remortgaged a few months ago now, think I have made about 3 payments. I got 6.34% fixed for two years and if I am a good girl I can remortgage for them again at the high street rate ignoring my credit history.
No one, not even Martin can predict the financial climet in the coming years so who knows what people will be offered but at least you know that whatever happens being on a DMP has saved your house!0
