A Word Of Caution Folks

Right im going to stick my neck out and probably get it bitten of faster than a bat at an Ozzy Osborn concert but

Can we exercise caution when advising contacting the OR re lump sums of money?

As a recent thread highlights the Official receiver does not always follow the rules and also make errors, whether this is due to lack of training/knowledge or for reasons of meeting targets or whatever contacting the OR for guidance is not the best course of action unless you can get an independent view on the situation first.

Although most examiners are helpful and friendly, as frequently demonstrated there are some that are not out there too, so remember the OR is not your friend, they are there to look after the interests of the IS and your creditors, they do have a duty to the bankrupt too but due to recent posts it seems this is at the bottom of the pile

In short if a poster is asking for advice, if legislation cant be found to answer the question then they should be referred to other sources for advise other than the IS

Failing to do this could lead to the OR claim monies they are not supposed to as the thread that prompted this showed.

Also a quick note to the regulars, there is a atmosphere starting on here again due to conflicts between the regular posters.

Newbie’s are looking to us regulars for advice and support and it does not instil confidence if they see us bickering, so can I please ask if one of the other regulars posts something you find inappropriate can you discuss it via PM to sort it that way, not on the open board as it only makes it look worse to newbie’s. Of course if you believe info given is wrong then you must post so, but tactfully please.

(and before anyone says it yes im guilty of it too ocasionaly, but we need to address it before it devides this board again)

Thanks for reading:D

    Well articulated Bat,

I've always been a proponent of selective memory loss, and the old maxim; "tell the truth, but don't always be telling the truth".

Having said that, I've never had a problem sleeping at night, but I'd never want to suggest a course of action to somebody that meant they were in a constant state of worry.

I hope it wasn't me causing an atmosphere! I haven't noticed an atmosphere. Maybe I'm not on here enough at the moment to realise. Advice taken on board!
