Exchange of skills

Years ago I remember reading about an organisation where you could offer your skills (eg teacher, plasterer, plumber) in exchange for somebody else's on the register.
I thought this was a good idea, but didn't think I had much to offer at the time!! Now I think I might. Does anybody know anything about such an organisation? I tried Googling various things, but nothing came up.

LETS is the one that I was thinking of but they have different names in different areas."This site is addictive!"

Thank you very much! LETs was the one I was thinking of, but Time Bank seems to run along similar lines. :T0

Was put off this idea , initially, because couldn't work out how the system stopped people from just taking (and not exchanging). Easier to run in a town, but say I have to travel to do someones garden, in the hope they will travel to give me a haircut.0

yeah and all that Timebank did for me was to register me for volunteer work... Dont want to do volunteer work: i wanna get something in return. Was useless."Don't cry, Don't Raise your Eye

My skill lies in avoiding the work my wife gives me to do. Is there anything I can exchange for that?Eh?? I give up!! Towel is getting thrown in here!

I was registered with our local LETS for 2 years, but never found anyone offering the kind of general diy help I was hoping for. I did have a couple of people ring me regarding the computer skills I'd listed as one of my trading swaps, but it all seemed pointless if I wasn't going to be able to find someone to help me with what I need doing, so didn't renew my membership last time round.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
