loopyloulou you can do it. my daughter and i managed on £65.00 week for nearly a year once when the benifits system let us down she was only 1.1/2 so i had to buy all the gubbings for a small child and pay a mortgage and heat the house and feed us..... it was hard.
but when you have to, you can.
Things do get better she now 15 i have son 7 and the best man in the whole wide world.

    YOU CAN DO IT

heres a good veggie one :)

Get a packet of puff pastry and roll it out divide into 8 then cling film then freeze seperately. ( check reduced corners ours always has pastry in!)

Then in the morning take one out then for tea all you need to do is crumble some cheese ( fetas good, buty Ive also used cheshire/ mozzerella mixed) into a bowl and mix with a large handful of spinach. wilt slightly in a frying pan.

Blob the mix in the middle of a pastry square slam in oven for 15-20 mins.

    Voila, feta & spinach crowns.
Also quite good with ratatoille that heats up v well in microwave.

As with buying anything, buy seasonal- importing veg from the other side of the world is simply not cheap at all anymore- the price of squash for exmaple is

    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Veggie chilli is dead cheap. My recipe includes an onion, grated carrot, a couple of chopped value peppers, a tin of tomatoes, a tin of value kidney beans and a handful of bulgar wheat (along with some veg stock and spices). Costs less than £2 for the whole lot, and easily makes four portions.

Grated carrot is really good to bulk out any tomatoe based sauces, and red lentils are a brilliant cheap source of protein. Once you get into batch cooking you'll wonder how you ever managed any other way.

Also I don't know if you like eggs , but omelettes are a good way of using upi any odds and ends of veg from the bottom of the fridge.

    Hope that helps.

    Another great mexican recipe is

Quesadlillas- 2x flour tortilla/ slight smearing of chilli sauce if you have it, grated cheese & very finely sliced red onion- fry on both side. Really nice version of the mexican cheese toastie, and great with a crispy salad :D
