They Say I've Won - But I'm Dubious Should I Be?

I have just received a phone call saving that I have won a holiday for 4. I did enter a competition in a shopping centre a few weeks ago and I have a slip of paper with my entry number on it. The man on the phone says that there are no catches, and has given me a reference number and a free phone telephone number to contact and arrange everything!!!

The competition slip I have been given is a 2minuteDraw.com.

Has anyone ever heard of them? are they genuine? what do you think I should do? :o

Plus admin fees, fuel surcharges, etc etc. Someone on the Vent forum said it came to £550 for 4!

& all this, just to sell you a timeshare. Sorry womblewimble. better luck next time.

EDIT: Forgot to say they will probably phone you again saying how surprised they are that you haven't got in touch yet & as its a freephone number it won't cost you anything to call (the comp organiser only get paid if you call the timeshare number so they will tell you anything to get you to call).

You can of course be polite, or play them at their own game. Tell them its great you've won a holiday as you need a treat after losing your job or your OH has left you. They'll soon stop bothering you if they think your unemeployed or single.

did you give your address when ticket was bought? they should be able to mail details, without you having to call up (are you sure its a free number, btw?)

Yeah i had this too - these folk are really unscrupulous and I was caught out at a festival event. It appears you 'win' a holiday but in fact its a timeshare, you have to pay fees for your 'free' holiday, attend a timeshare presentation etc etc.

I thought you knew it was a freephone number as your firm does business with them?

2 minute draw seem to be at allthe summer events, I've seen them at the TAste festival, and at the good food show. Avoid it like the plague, 'cos it also involves a "presentation" at a site where you get the full on sales pitch.

I understand that the "free holiday" is not inclusive of taxes ins etc AND they never ever seem to have flights available from YOUR local airport........odd that.......
