DMP with Payplan - creditors won't agree monthly payments! HELP!

Hi all - am a newbie and have just started our DMP with Payplan. Have various default notices sent, but my main concern is that the creditors are all asking for more money than we have offered (via Payplan) and they are contacting me and my husband direct instead of going via Payplan. I'm getting very stressed - I suffer with M.E./CFS - and this is just pulling me down further.

I don't know what to do - I have tried to contact Payplan, but so far no answers have been forthcoming. One of our creditors actually wants more per month than we pay to all our creditors! Money is exceptionally tight - with 2 small children - I'm finding it very tough. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

i just got stroppy with mine, told them that i had handled all finances over CCCS and they should be contacting them not me as they had received a letter from me specifically allowing them to discuss my account and informing them that CCCs were handling my account. if they call again (and they may) try telling them that you are now considering their actions as harrasement and they are to remove your contact telephone number immediatley from their call sheet

They will not agree straight away its a case of keep shaking the tree see if any more apples fall.

But Payplan will send them the money every month and evenutally they see that is all they are getting. Try not to let it get you down just concern yourself with living on your new budget and keeping to that and maintaining the payments you have agreed.

I cant help you with this but just thought i would offer some support. Can you set aside some you time and have a nice relaxing bath (minus kids) so that you feel a little less stressed?

Tell them to deal with Payplan - give them the ref no and hang up. I have heard that most seem to take a few months to accept and then one or two will drag it out and out but will get there in the end. They may be suspicious and are waiting to see if they get the money each month.

awww thanks all for your kind advice - homeaway, the bath is running! This is only the first month and I'm finding it very hard to stick to the budget, but have managed to do so - payday on Friday and I've got £13 left until then! Will keep you all posted and thank you so much for your support. Lxxx

    Hi Loo44,

Give it 3 months. I went through exactly the same as you, lot's of letters that really scared me + phone calls. They even got hold of my work mobile.

But I promise you it does quieten down. I have 15 creditors and they all tried the "not enough" line. Some even refused to speak to payplan (which they are not allowed to do).

After 3 months of regular payments, everything calmed down and although money is tight, everything is under control and I rarely hear from any of them now.

    So hang in there!

    Hi Loo,

Make sure you get yourself aquainted with some of the other boards. Especially the Old Style board where they can show you how to save money on your food budget. The Up your income board, the Competitions board, the Freebies board to name a few.

Also sign yourself up to your local Freecycle groups. Like Ebay but you express an interest in an item and if you are chosen you can pick it up for free. It's a great way to keep things out of landfill :)
