It's a cheap and easy way to make a popular musical hit - simply select a kid's TV theme tune and make it yours! Simply wait a decade or so after the TV show was at its most popular and away you go...
Examples:
McFly's new song "One for the radio" - listen to it from 38 seconds to 52 seconds into the track:

Compare with the Gummi Bears theme tune (from the start up to 16 seconds in):

Scissor Sisters "Laura" sounds a lot like the Thomas the Tank Engine theme:

I always think of Maid Marrian and her Merry Men theme tune when I hear MCR Teenagers. It may just be me but I think it has the same sort of rhythm to it
