Alot of them do nothing for you, They just want to sign you up onto their 'Books'
Those that do find you work, Ring you when they WANT you, Then when you WANT them they are never contactable or pass you round the table like a 'Piece of meat'
The staff in some of the agencies are not the 'Brightest' of the bunch!!
And some aren't.0 -

As an ex-recruitment consultant, I would say that's a very generalist statement by someone who probably doesn't know what the role of a recruitment consultant actually is.
Recruitment Consultants work at the mercy of their clients (Ie the people they recruit for, as they are the people who effectively pay their wages) - unfortunately, until someone invents a magic wand - it will never be possible for them to just pull a job out of thin air to meet your expectations!
And you're right, some are better than others at getting back to you - which has no bearing on their intelligence - if they don't call you, it will generally be because they have nothing to say to you, and having another conversation with someone you have nothing for, and making meaningless excuses as to why there are no suitable jobs available for them, is wasting both your time and theirs, and can often be quite demoralising for the candidate.
Or of course, it's perfectly possible they're just not responding because you aren't a very good candidate, granted in this situation I would always have been honest from the outset and explained why I couldn't help, but not everyone is comfortable providing negative feedback - especially when it won't always be taken as intended.0 -
If you're willing to do care work, then there might be vacancies there: residential homes, mum and baby homes etc.Signature removed for peace of mind0
