Is this normal after BR?

Hi everyone,

I've been BR since 8th of this month and I wondered if this is normal..

I'm still receiving the usual amount of creditor phone calls and letters, defaults with very current dates on etc, solicitors for those companies writing letters.

Not yet been in the paper (I've bought it for the last 2 weeks to check!!)

Had none of my bank accounts frozen and no contact from any of the banks to say that I can't bank there anymore

My Natwest account is still working perfectly well and has not been stopped, nor have I had any contact from Natwest since going BR.

I've not got my interview with the OR until Wednesday (23rd) so I just wondered.... does all that sound right to everyone or does it seem like they've somehow forgotten me? I thought everything would change so much after being declared BR but it's been 2 weeks and nothing is any different.

Do you normally not go in the paper until after the OR interview?

Thanks,

Louise

It takes a while for these things to filter through especially with the big organisations like the banks. The OR has 8 weeks to let them all know about the BR. If any one phones just give them your BR details ie *** of 2008 at blah blah court. OR name and phone number. Don't answer any security questions, just quote your BR details and put the phone down. Any letters just send to the OR to deal with.

Are you still using your Nat West account?

I went BR in Feb and am still using my Natwest account. All my banks were notified by the OR - all wrote to me to state I could not use the account, except for Natwest.

Default letters are the norm after BR, something to do with dating your credit file correctly, so thats good. Ignore all phone calls. Give them your BR details and hang up. There is nothing they can do now - despite what some might claim.

If you wanted to (I think Maxmycardagain did), is to photocopy a standard letter and your court BR paper, and post it to everyone. I didn't bother though, but may make you feel a bit better in being proactive over it.

Yes I'm still using my Natwest account. I'd heard quite a few people on here say they had the accounts closed after BR because Natwest are not BR friendly, regardless of it being a basic account.

Fingers crossed mine keeps working like skylight's!

Thanks for the info, I didn't know the OR had 8 weeks to inform them.

I'm just going to sit tight and let it all work out I think. I know the creditors numbers when they phone so I just screen the calls, haven't answered them in weeks because I don't think theres much point, they only end up calling again when a different shift come on.

    Thanks for the help! :-)

I would recommend opening another account now you are BR - like the co-op cashminder and do it ASAP.

At worst you will have 2 basic accounts (like I now do) buts its best to get it sorted just in case Natwest do suddenly close shop. At least if you have a new one up and running it will just take a few phone calls to get credits changed to the new account - if not and Natwest do close, then it could take some weeks to get a new account sorted.

Hi Bubblegumm. I was so fed up with the letters and phone calls that as soon as I was made BR, I sent off a copy of my Bankruptcty Order and also rang them, they all stopped fairly quickly after that. I knew the OR would be extremely busy and I didn't really want another month of putting up with the stress of it. Its up to you really. :)

Yep, I'm the same. 2 weeks in and both my bank accounts are still open and I've had no letters from them, nothing in the papers yet. I imagine they have a lot of people to get through at the moment...

My paper don't bother printing anymore. I sent copies of BR order to my creditors.
The Halifax did try it on on Saturday with a phone call on Saturday. I knew the number so was ready and waiting.

    Is that Mrs ***?
    Yes
Can you confirm some security details please?
No .... and I have to inform you that I am recording this telephone call for my own purposes. (I wasn't really!)
    Pardon?
You heard. Now why are you phoning me?
    Because your overdraft is outstanding.
Yes I know that. You know that. The OR knows that. So your point is?
    Pardon?
You heard. You know I'm bankrupt. I told told you. The OR has told you and what you are now doing is harrassing me.
We haven't got any information on our screen.
So. Is that my problem? Now EF off and contact me again in ANY EFing shape or form and I will be more P***ed off than I am now. Do one.:rotfl:

That is how my convo went. Brightened up my day considerably! :D

Good luck for tomorrow. Got my telephone interview as well tomorrow. 10am.
Had the collywobbles on Sunday and probably will be sat in the bathroom this time tomorrow!

    Lets hope we survive!;) :D
