Post OR Phone Call - Need to do Letter, advice please!

As some of you may know, I had a bit of a mare of an OR phone call. I was so embarrassed at all my debts, I wasn't prepared for the indepth grilling I got, and kept saying some of the money I borrowed was to pay off loans for OH. He then asked me if I had remortgaged, I said I had, 3 times. I was embarrassed again, so said some of it was to help out OH again.....so imagine my surprise, when he said OH would have to pay back whatever I had lent him!

Anyway, I received a letter from the OR yesterday, he wants all details of my remortgages, dates, amounts and what the money went on, and details of what I have paid off for my OH. Which I do understand, I could have kept remortgaging, gave the money to OH to stash, and then decided to go BR. In reality, I only paid off about £5k for OH, I didn't even know OH when I remortgaged. But I lead the OR to think it was a hell of a lot more than that. I am worried that when I put the details in my letter that it wasn't that much, he will think I am making it up, just to get OH out of paying it. But its the truth, I will be sending him all corresponding bank statements showing him, so I know I am not covering anything up and I know that it doesn't matter if he digs, he won't find anything. So why do I feel like a criminal? :o

I want to put in the letter the truth, that I was in a real muddle on the phone, thats its been a difficult time, and I was embarrassed at the amount of money I had gone through, so said I had lent it to OH to make me look better. Do you think that its a good idea? We know we might have to pay back what I lent OH, but am also going to point out that OH paid for everything the past 22 months since I have not been working so has been paying all the loan and credit card payments, so hope that will be taken into account for any payment he has to make.

Just put in the letter what you put in your post, try and explain where the money did go and you'll be fine.
