Finally my I&E - help appreciated!

I'm nearly 4 months into my BR and I have just been sent IPOQ questionnaire.

I am temping so I'll see what my average was over the past 3 months.

I get child benefit at £120 per month - this may be stopping soon if my kids decide not to stay in Education!

This is for 2 adults and 2 teenagers

My outgoing are:

mortgage 1,365
council tax 170
Heating and lighting 150
water 35
telephone 60
housekeeping 461
essential travel exp 211
clothing ?
other essential payments

This is all that is on the form so I suppose under other essential payments I need to include all the other stuff I've seen on other people's forms

hairdressing
prescriptions
pets 45 this is 35 for insurance and 10 for pet food

I can't think of anything else but already I'm in deficit! However I am just putting in a claim for working tax credit and child tax credit. If my children don't stay in education I won't be able to get child tax credit and also I'll lose child benefit.

Thanks for any advice you can give!:o

    Hiya FYP

If you are already in deficit I don't think you'll have anything to worry about - I would be adding some in for clothes, I'm sure you could have at least £50 against clothes.

Heating and lighting 150 Is it really this much for gas and electric? Did you put this sort of figure down on your original form?

pets 45 this is 35 for insurance and 10 for pet food Your insurance is quite high. Do you have a few pets? OR might say food to come out of HK.

Our gas and electricity really is that high, in fact I've really been trying to save and haven't used the dishwasher since Christmas and I use the tumble dryer about a quarter of what I used to! Gas is £230 and Elec is £220 both per quarter so 450/3=150. I have the bills if they need proof!

Great TF, I'll put those things you mentioned re clothes and prescriptions etc. and even if they disallow dogs (there are 2) I will still be in deficit.

You have not said what your household income is and how other contributions are made up. It may help to know for the allowances, unless i missed some thing that is:p .D

Tv licence... ? House insurance? Emergency fund they'll usually accept, ie 20-40 for emergency breakages... school trips etc... google about saving for school trips etc, some expenditure like that is eligable

    Thanks everyone.
Tiger - my meter was renewed last year, no I don't have night storage heaters and I have changed suppliers a few times and the bills are always near enough the same. The elec. has gone down by about £30 per quarter the last 2 bills which hopefully means some of my electricity savings is working.

Dalip - I don't get any other contributions to the household expenditure except child benefit. I'm now at £700 deficit per month and am about to claim tax credits - I have been assessed over the phone to be eligible for £150 per week working tax credit and child tax credit, however both my kids are elibible to leave school if they want so I'm hoping they'll stay on or else I'll lose £120 child benefit and and child tax credit that I'll be getting!

Bluepal - thanks for that, I can't believe I forgot house insurance. I suppose since its lapsed, its been blanked from my mind!

It might be worth getting hold of one of those things that monitor electricity usage to see where it is going.

How much is your bill? We've always had high bills so it doesn't really seem that bad.

I just spoke to OR (his assistant anyway) apparently they haven't received one of the forms I was supposed to send back - the contract thing that has to be signed and witnessed.

When we were in the flat we ahd night storage heaters and an old fashioned tank of hot water and in winter we were paying £50 a week  on average. In summer £15/20 a week. In the new house I haven't had a bill yet but we are probably looking at £35 isg a month each for gas and electric.

Did you send it recorded delivery?
