"The world's local bank" - Can they be sued

I was very upset when, looking for someone to talk to face to face about my arrears, or at least a specific name and address to write to, to set out my situation to and ask for advice, I was told at 3 different HSBC branches that this was impossible because everything was centralized via 08457 404 404.
This bank advertises itself as the "world's local bank". On what basis? Can they be sued for such a cavalier claim? Have they been sued, or are they being sued? Is there a class action suit already that I can join?
Sorry about this but I am just really really angry. I am convinced that HSBC should be forced to take down that slogan and publicly apologize for its complete baselessness.

hmmm good question.
Ive often wondered about these sorts of "claims" that banks, shops, and pretty much any other business can seemingly get away with.
I suppose you have 3 lines of enquiry.
the first being ASA, the advertising standards agency. -is the banks advertising acceptable, or misleading in any way?
second: the FSA - as above, additionally, the FSA regualte banks and are ( apparently) quite up on arrears, and how banks manage arrears. If you cannot speak to anyone face to face, then I would expect that the FSA might be interested in that. clearly if you are trying to make amends & create an environment where your debts can be paid in a way the bank is happy with then this should be supported ( as I understand it)
third your local trading standards department at your local council. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
