ED expected soon - do i need to notify OR of new job

I hope you can help. I have had a letter from OR saying that I am being considered for ED and that I shouldn't contact him until he notifies me of the ED date. I sent him my I & E as requested and haven't heard anything else (since May). However, I have just got a good job. I have checked the letter from the OR, there is nothing on it to say that I have to inform them of change of circumstances. I am not starting the job straightaway, and shouldn't get my first pay until the end of September, by which time I would hope the ED would have gone through. What should i do - inform the OR or not?

Cheers guys

You are legally obliged to tell the OR of all changes in circumstances within 21 days.

However, you have only been offered a job at this stage. I would inform them when I started the job.

Ok how did you send the IPOQ EDREV back to the OR. I filled one in,in april and when i checked it on line(special delivery) 2 wks ago they never recieived it,so might be worth a check up from that point.

Have you been checking the IS site?. As the OR does not always inform you of ED.

If all else fails wait till you have started work and getting close to the 21 day cut off point and hope they have already filed in court for ED.

It can take up to 2-3 wk for it to show on the IS site so fingers crossed you are already close or getting there.D

    cheers guys

i have checked the is site and I am still currently BR.Good idea about checking whether the OR received the IPOQ. Are they meant to send you anything back. I have been a student since going BR and am just graduating, so I had no real income.

thanks dalip, yes i just tracked it and it has been delivered and signed for (I can even see the signature!).
The wording on the or letter says 'the ed process will take some weeks to complete, and i would be grateful if you did not contact me again regarding ED as it could cause futher delays.'
So, do you think that means i should or shouldn't contact them about the new job. I don't want to mess up with this. cheers

Your circumstances won't change till you start your new job so once you do then you inform the OR if you are not dischaerged yet.

    This is the process
The OR will firstly send 'report to creditors' this is normally done within 8 weeks of the making of the bankruptcy order (your appearance at court etc). It's the initial report from the OR that tells creditors (amongst other things) the reasons for the insolvency and the likelihood of creditors receiving any payments from the estate.

The OR's office must then wait 3 months before they can consider starting the ED process if they feel it is appropriate.

For the ED, you have 14+7 days to return the IPOQ (I&E questionnaire..this is sent to you from the OR office if your considered for ED) after which the OR can write to the creditors to say that they will be applying for the ED and request any objections.

The OR's office must then wait 28 +7 days to allow creditors to reply. Then if no valid objections have been received, the ED notice can be submitted to the court.

So the quickest the ED could happen (in theory) is 56-57 days after the you get the ED/IPOQ letter.
it often takes longer and can even be shelved at any stage if the office is too busy with new cases as ED is NEVER a guarantee...

    With thanks to Phil.

If you are not sure, why not contact your original OR and ask. Even though you have been put forward for ED there is no guarnteee(sp) you will get it!D

Also meant to say when you start work don't forget your expenditure will change ie: extra money for travelling and work clothes.

cheers for the replies, I think I will start the job and wait about 14 days and then inform OR if I havent had the ED. Typical, just when things are looking up and I can finally get back on my feet, I will probably have to pay something back for 3 years! But I guess its the way things go!
