Nil Tax Code?

I read somewhere on here about a nil tax code being applied when you went br. Does this apply in Scotland?
Also - my husband has a dispute with tax people re he thinks they owe him about 5k and they say he owes them 2,300 so have adjusted his tax code and we are paying 2,300 over 12 months meaning he gets about £200 a month less than when we moved to scotland for this glorious job!(?) Would this money they say he owes be included in br or would it just continue to be taken off at source if you get my gist?

I've read some anecdotal comments (elsewhere) that the NT code/IPA is not applied in Scotland.
Checking through the HMRC online tax manuals also produces some hints that Tax coding after bankruptcy is treated differently under Scottish law. But the manuals are such a maze that I can't pull up any firm reference.
Checking on the Accountant in Bankruptcy site also seems to produce nothing?
Might be worth contacting the AIB or HMRC if no one can say any more definitely than that.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Well in England it goes into your BR. I can't imagine that it would be any different in Scotland.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
